The announcement, detailed in a servicing and support update here, is a clear and obvious move to drive more customers to Microsoft's paid Office 365 service. ![]() It's unclear if Microsoft aims to block the installation of Office 2019 on older operating systems, or if it will allow it, but decline to fix any bugs. The Redmond-based company recommends that users with older versions of the Windows operating system use the company’s Office 365 service instead, or update to Windows 10. Microsoft announced yesterday that future versions of the standalone Office 2019 app will work on Windows 10 versions exclusively.
